The flight
Berat is one of Albania’s most beautiful towns. Its white Ottoman houses climb the hillside in rows of windows, which is how it got its nickname, the city of a thousand windows. Together with Gjirokastër it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From the air you see the whole of it at once: the castle on the hill, the Mangalem quarter facing Gorica across the Osum river, and the mountains around the valley.
It’s a flight for people who want a view with history in it. Pair it with a night in the old town and you have one of the best weekends in Albania.
